Building for Zero Carbon and Net Zero Energy
9:30am - 10:15am
Workshop Session A
This interactive presentation will go through mini case studies that examine the process and strategies of how ROAM Transit; Canmore Fire Station; Grace Village and MD of Bighorn Operations Building meet Zero Carbon goals and establish a pathway to Net Zero Energy Use. The presentation will identify project goals, design strategies, energy code requirements and identify lessons learned from each project. We will walk attendees through how we take each project through grant funding screening process to identify applicable grant opportunities, then discuss the grant application process and how we apply key design strategies to each project to secure funding from FCM, GMF and CHMC which includes energy study grant funding, project capital funding and low interest loans.
At the end of the presentation you will have an understanding of the difference between Zero Carbon and Net Zero Energy Use for different building typologies, what design strategies are available to you to achieve these goals and have an understanding of what grant funding opportunities are available for your project and the process required to secure the grants.
